Travel to Barcelona

Getting around Barcelona
Rail Barcelona- Barcelona has several stations around the city and is served by RENFE or local and longer distance train jouneys - their web page is available in several languages and easily navigated to source your journey details. Look out for special fare deals. The fast train - AVE now departs from Barcelona for Madrid and the travel time in 2 hours 38 minutes - 34 trains each day.
Taxi Barcelona - Recognized by their colour -the standard yellow and black cabs, are governed by The Metropolitan Taxi Institute (IMT) fares are standardized and shown on the taxi meter – generally only four people are allowed unless you can book a larger vehicle.

Metro Barcelona - Barcelona has a very good metro (subway or underground ) network. It is clean, efficient and relatively quick to get around the city using this method of transport. Generally the stations within Barcelona are automated for ticket sales and the machines in several languages. There are specail rate and season tickets available. TOMBUS Barcelona - This service, from Barcelona Transport Network, runs from Plaça Catalunya (in front of Banc d’España and the large department store - El Corte Inglés) returning to the El Corte Inglés store at the top end of the Diagonal, making 28 stops throughour Barcelona along the way. Bicycle hire Barcelona - Barcelona is going further to promote green travel by doubling the network of dedicated bike (bicycle) lanes to almost 200km all the new pathways will be at least 1.20 m wide to accommodate wheels and pedestrians comfortably. The Barcelona Ajuntament (Town Hall) have a new public service where you can hire bikes from certain dedicated ´stations´around Barcelona city centre and drop the rental bike off at your destination - 365 days a year - see www.bicing.com.
